Subaru Blog enthusiast Rising From the Ashes

The Subie Collective was formed out of the necessity to continue providing a space for people to
share their love of their Subarus. It’s so much more than that though, which I will get into in a moment.
In all honesty, it was created in a very chaotic way and I am so grateful to our members for not only
sticking by our side, but helping us create this beautiful community.
I was the Vice President of a former club and I loved it. Dawn and Stacie were admins and
worked closely with me to ensure everything was running smoothly. I honestly don’t want to get too
messy here so I’m going to share limited information about what happened to cause the demise of that,
but a majority of our original members know and have observed the whole story. Long story short,
members had paid for items and had been left waiting for months without their items or updates and
the President was responsible for this. I am committed to providing an atmosphere of respect and am
very protective of my members and not only is this unacceptable business, it was disrespectful to keep
pushing off concerns. I had offered help numerous ways on many occasions, but this was always turned
down. Eventually things came to a head and I was removed from the group for sticking up for them.
After that, quite literally chaos ensued! I had very politely asked to tell the group myself that I
would no longer be Vice President and he denied that to me and removed me before I could. Panic
ensued and everyone was DMing me asking what happened. So, I decided to remove the President from
the engagement group I had created and I sent them a video telling them exactly what had been going
on and exactly why I was removed. Tons of people then left the group of their own choice because of
this and others were removed by the President himself. While I was unsure if I could run a club myself, I
could sense the need for this group to stick together. I had also been in constant communication with
Stacie and Dawn the entire week leading up to this because I could sense something was going to
happen, and while we had been debating about which route we would go, in that moment everything
became clear. This family we had created needed a space to stick together and we were going to
provide it.
For a while our chat was named “Lindy’s Army,” a change one of our members made and our
members truly lived up to the name. I was absolutely blown away by the support. I never would have
asked anyone to leave on my behalf, but member after member did that. In return, I have put so much
effort into making this group for them. Since then, we have risen like a phoenix from the ashes and it’s
only going to continue to get better! I’m so grateful to Dawn and Stacie for stepping up to the plate and
being amazing Co-VPs as we navigate this together. Something that has been really important to us is
full transparency and hearing the voices of our members. Our members have supported us in choosing a
name for our club, logo ideas, merchandise ideas, and so much more. We exist because they are
amazing!
We at The Subie Collective believe that everyone should be able to celebrate their love of
Subies, regardless of what they own. We were finding so many car clubs were either tuner-specific or
overland-specific, and we aim to bring the Subaru culture together as a whole. Our combined members
own nearly every type of Subaru on the road today. We have people brand new to the car community
and people that have been in it for over 20 years. We have mechanics who can do anything and people
that don’t even do an oil change. We have one thing in common though-we love the Subie brand,
culture, and family. We are a collective of all the Subaru brand stands for and I couldn’t be more proud
of this group.
If anyone is interested in joining us, please fill out the application in our bio! We will reach out
to you within 24 hours and as long as you’re not a bot, you’re in baby! We are happy to accept members
from all over the world so please don’t be shy! This is only the beginning—we have future dreams of
putting on regional meets and attending shows together. We’d love any feedback and are open to ideas
anyone has in terms of what they might want in The Subie Collective.
With Love,
The Subie Collective
